Understanding the WordPress Loop

The Loop is how WordPress determines what content (posts and pages) to display on a page you are visiting.

What is the Loop?

The Loop is how WordPress determines what content (posts and pages) to display on a page you are visiting. Users are able to continually go through content on a site because the Loop displays a loop of single posts/pages or a group of posts and pages.

The Loop can be located within a theme’s template files. In this site’s theme, it can be seen in some of the PHP files. For example in the singular.php file, it displays…

Therefore, if there are posts, the loop will retrieve and display its assigned template. This theme has 3 types of templates: default theme, cover template and full width template. By editing the php file of a template, it will change how it is displayed across the website.

The Loop is evident directly below this text by providing links to other posts and enabling visitors to continuously go through the site’s content.
